Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge - Rides
When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge first opened at the Disneyland Resort in 2019, it debuted Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. This ride invites up to six guests to climb aboard the Falcon and embark on a journey through the galaxy. Play the role of pilot, gunner or engineer and just try to get the Millennium Falcon back in one piece.
On January 17, 2020, Rise of the Resistance opened in Galaxy’s Edge. This new experience boasts the most advanced technology of any ride Disney has ever created! Before boarding, you’ll be briefed in the queue so you know what to expect as you join the Resistance. Initially, guests will request a boarding pass via the Disneyland app once they’re in the Parks. When it’s your turn to experience Rise of the Resistance, you’ll receive a notification from the app so you can head over to the attraction. The boarding pass is required in order to be eligible to ride, and it doesn’t guarantee you’ll experience Rise of the Resistance.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge - Experiences & Shopping
In addition to rides, Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland also has two unique souvenir experiences. At Savi’s Workshop you can make a reservation to build a custom lightsaber and partake in an induction ceremony when you’re done. This intimate workshop allows up to 14 guests at a time to choose a hilt and kyber crystal to personalize their lightsaber. This experience begins at $199 credits (US dollars). If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, you’ll be charged a $199 fee, so be sure you don’t miss it! Typically, guests have been able to bring their lightsabers home as a carry-on item when they fly. They can be disassembled if you need to try fitting it into your suitcase.
At The Droid Depot, you can build a custom sidekick droid, choosing between either the BB or R series droids. Starting at $99 credits (US dollars), you can choose a custom color combination and optional personality chip to bring your droid to life. No reservation is required, and you’ll love having a droid accompany you throughout Galaxy’s Edge. Depending on the personality chip you purchase, you’ll see your droid interact with the land and other droids in the Park. Droids head home with you in a carrying box, so you should be able to bring it as a carry-on item if you’re flying.
Throughout the land, you can encounter Disney Characters including Chewbacca, Rey, Vi, Kylo Ren and Stormtroopers. They make the Star Wars experience come to life as they walk the land and approach you to chat. Just be sure you don’t create suspicion with the Stormtroopers! If you ask, the Characters will usually stop for a photo with you, and you can use the Disneyland app to locate PhotoPass photographers who can either take professional photos for you and use your own device to snap a quick picture.
Galaxy’s Edge also offers a number of Outposts where you can browse unique merchandise that looks as if it was sourced from a galaxy far, far away. You won’t simply find Disney-branded souvenirs here! There’s a Creature Stall where you can adopt a pet, apparel outposts so you can look the part of the Resistance or First order and even a toy shop.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge - Dining
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Disneyland includes themed dining at various outposts, including Oga’s Cantina. If you want to get into the watering hole in Galaxy’s Edge, be sure to make a no-cost reservation via the Disneyland app. Your party can enjoy both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at Oga’s Cantina, all the tunes of DJ R-3X. You’ll want to be sure to keep your reservation and arrive about 15 minutes before your appointed time; if you no-show or cancel less than 24 hours beforehand, you’ll be charged $10 per person.
In Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll be able to try the famous Blue or Green Milk, which are dairy-free frozen concoctions that are out-of-this-world. There’s also Kat Saka’s Kettle so you can get a Disneyland favorite with a Star Wars twist- Outpost Mix popcorn. Be sure to try the chocolate flavor Disney debuted at the end of 2019. Other dining experiences include Ronto Roasters and Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo.
