When you are in Disneyland Park early with Magic Morning, you will not be able to make FastPass requests for later in the day. But set your alarm, so you’re ready at regular Park opening to make those first FastPass requests! And, speaking of FastPass, we have details below on that service as well as MaxPass, which is the electronic version.
How to Navigate Holiday Crowds at Disneyland - MaxPass
If you’re familiar with FastPass at Disneyland, then you know it’s the free system that allows you to request return times for a number of attractions and rides in Disneyland. In person at physical kiosks located throughout Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, you use your theme park ticket to request a time to return to a shorter line for select attractions. It’s a big time saver in the Resort, especially during the holidays.
If you’d like to, you can upgrade to the electronic version of FastPass, which is MaxPass. For $15 per ticket, per day, you can have mobile access to make FastPass requests throughout your Disneyland vacation. That means from anywhere in either Park, you can use the official Disneyland app to view and select FastPass return times for many of your favorite rides. It’s one of the best ways to navigate holiday crowds at Disneyland! Another bonus of MaxPass, is that it also allows you unlimited digital downloads of PhotoPass photos during your vacation. With the purchase of MaxPass, you have access to PhotoPass photos from rides as well as PhotoPass Photographers in either Park. This is a great value and added perk of having MaxPass!
There are a couple of ways to purchase MaxPass: one is to pre-purchase for each day of your Disneyland vacation when you book with Get Away Today; the other is to purchase it on a day-by-day basis once you are in the Resort with your theme park tickets. There is no difference in price; it’s a matter of convenience for some.
How to Navigate Holiday Crowds at Disneyland - Mobile Order/Restaurant Reservations
Other ways to navigate holiday crowds at Disneyland are utilizing mobile ordering in Disneyland, and making advance restaurant reservations. Is there anything worse than waiting in a long line to order and pay for food? Don’t waste time in any line unless you have to!
Mobile ordering is a no-cost feature in the Disneyland app that allows you to browse menus of participating food vendors in Disneyland Resort. From your phone, you can select your menu item and pay for it from anywhere in the Parks. You’ll be given a window of time during which your food purchase will be available for pick up, and when it’s ready you head straight to the designated mobile order window at the restaurant. To pick up your mobile order, just show the Cast Member the mobile order confirmation on your phone. Using mobile ordering means you order your food while enjoying other experiences in Disneyland, making the most of your time. Not to mention, it means you won’t be waiting in the traditional line during peak dining times!
If you know you want a certain dining experience while in the Disneyland Resort, use the Disneyland app to make a reservation. Disney allows guests to book dining reservations 60 days out from travel, which is helpful for navigating holiday crowds at Disneyland. Instead of wondering if you’ll have time to get into a popular restaurant like Blue Bayou or Lamplight Lounge, make a reservation! Then, you can organize the rest of your day around your dining time and worry a whole lot less.
