Meet Dani | Founder of Friday Apparel

Hi! I’m Dani, the founder of Friday Apparel. β™‘

Friday Apparel is an independent, woman-owned fandom apparel shop that I started in 2015. More than a decade later, I’m still here designing for the girls who want what they’re currently obsessed with represented in their closet, but don't want to have to shop in the men's section to get it.

Around here, fandom can be subtle, bold, deeply specific, romantic, nostalgic, occasionally unhinged, and full ofΒ if you know, you know.

How Friday Apparel Started

Friday Apparel began in 2015 because I loved making mash-up graphic tees.

My very first design combined Mr. Game & Watch from Super Smash Bros. with Flynn Rider from Tangled. It said:

β€œFrying pans, who knew?”

Very niche. Very specific. VeryΒ Friday Apparel.

That first shirt became the beginning of many designs that I now post and caption: IYKYK (if you know, you know).

That idea is still at the heart of every design I make.

I want someone to see your shirt in a theme park, bookstore, coffee shop, convention, or Target aisle and immediately think:

Wait. I know what that means.

And suddenly you’ve found one of your people.

I’ve Always Been a Fangirl

When I was 15, it was Pirates of the Caribbean. When I was 13, it was Lord of the Rings. When I was 11, it was Star Wars.

But for a long time, good luck finding a fandom shirt for women that you actually wanted to wear. I got tired of shopping in the men’s section, so I started designing my own.

Over the years, that has turned into everything from Ben Solo and Reylo-inspired designs to theme park outfits, reader-coded sweatshirts, pop culture references, Holiday collections, favorite songs, and whatever new obsession has taken over my brain that week.

Friday Apparel isn't about putting a giant character graphic on a shirt.

It’s about the reference.

The line you immediately recognize. The tiny detail another fan notices. The outfit you can wear to the parks and then wear again at home. The sweatshirt that makes another fan stop you because they get it too.

By a Fan, for the Fans

Friday Apparel is still a small, independent businessβ€”and there really is a person behind it.

Hi again. Still me. πŸ‘‹

I work with production partners who help bring my products to life, but the designing, website, emails, product launches, customer experience, social media, collection planning, and approximately 900 other things happening behind the scenes are all done by me.

I’ve also built Friday Apparel while raising four kids, which means this business has grown right alongside my family.

What started with one very niche mash-up shirt in 2015 has become a community of people who love stories just as much as I do.

And that part means a lot to me.

Find Your Fandom

Friday Apparel is by a fan, for the fans.

There’s no fandomΒ rΓ©sumΓ© required here.

You can know every piece of lore or simply think the villain is hot. You can have been in the fandom for twenty years or have developed a mildly concerning new obsession last Wednesday.

Both are welcome.

Friday Fans are readers, park people, movie buffs, Reylos, romantasy girls, pop culture obsessives, nostalgia seekers, music lovers, and people who know that sometimes a fictional character can occupy a completely unreasonable amount of your brain.

No judgment. I’m right there with you.

That sense of finding your people has always been one of my favorite parts of fandomβ€”and it’s what I want Friday Apparel to feel like too.

For the Girls Who Get It

Some fandoms stay with us forever.

Some obsessions rotate weekly.

Friday Apparel is here for all of it.

Thank you for being here, for supporting a woman-owned small business, and for allowing something I started in 2015 to keep growing now and forevermore.

Whether you found Friday Apparel because of a shirt, a Google search, a TikTok, a Reddit thread, Pinterest, Instagram, or because the internet somehow knew exactly what kind of weird little fandom thing you were looking forβ€”welcome.

I’m very happy you found me. β™‘

May the Fandom be with you. Always.

XO
